"At Riverside Community College we understand the challenges facing international students and have programs and services to make college a successful and memorable experience." From the President: “As technology and global politics ‘shrink’ the world in which we live, more and more students are choosing to pursue their education in places distant from their countries of birth. At Riverside Community College we understand the challenges facing international students and have programs and services to make college a successful and memorable experience.” —Dr. Salvatore G. Rotella Overview Riverside Community College is a two-year institution with more than 33,000 students on its three campuses: Riverside City, Moreno Valley, and Norco. Approximately 300 students from 60 countries attend the college—one of the first community colleges in California, founded in 1916. The school is supported by the state of California and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Riverside is located in the center of southern California in a medium-sized community near mountains, beaches, and all the attractions of southern California. Academics Classes are small. Most RCC international students complete their lower-division coursework (two years) at RCC and transfer to four-year universities to complete the bachelor’s degree. The Riverside International Transfer Track connects students at the University of California Riverside and Riverside Community College. Students may transfer to the nine University of California or the 26 California State University campuses. Riverside has agreements with University of California and California State University to guarantee admission of international students who have completed the RCC programs. Associate degrees are also offered in more than 70 academic fields after two years of study. Many certificate programs are available. RCC has more than 100 educational programs. The catalog is online at the college Web site. Courses offered at RCC include: accounting, anthropology, Arabic, architecture, art, astronomy, biology, business administration, chemistry, Chinese, computer information systems, cosmetology, dance, dental technology, early childhood studies, economics, engineering, English, geographic information systems, geography, geology, German, graphics technology, history, humanities, Italian, Japanese, journalism, Korean, management, marketing, mathematics, music, nursing, philosophy, photography, physical education, physical science, political science, Russian, sociology, Spanish, telecommunications, and theater arts. International Student Services The RCC Center for International Students and Programs provides the following services: immigration, admission, airport pickup, welcome reception with the mayor of Riverside and president of RCC, orientation, academic counseling, priority registration, international club, optional practical training, and participation in campus sports, music, and student clubs.
