Postgraduate Certificate Stage - MBA Programme
(Term 1: September - December)

This will consist of an intensive induction programme and five
core modules.

Induction programme

An intensive support programme to help overseas students maximise their learning from the course.

Core modules

This first term has a functional perspective and focuses largely on the internal working of organisations.

Marketing Management:
The aim of this module is to introduce you to the concepts and models utilised by marketing managers. The module explores the question What is marketing? from the functional and philosophical perspective.

Human Resource Management:
This module provides the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills involved in the effective management of people within organisations and to under-stand the specialist contribution HR can make to organisational effectiveness.

Finance for Managers:
The module is designed to show the value, usefulness and applications of financial accounting as well as providing a reasonable exposition of its limitations.

Operations Management:
The module provides a clear, well-structured and interesting treatment of Operations Management as it applies to a variety of businesses and organisations. The module includes both a logical path through the activities of operations management and an understanding of its strategic context.

Contextual Environment:
The Contextual Environment unit is designed to provide a framework within which students can understand and assess how the external environment including cultural and ethical issues impact on organisations.
