Postgraduate
Certificate Stage - MSc Programme
(Term 1: September - December)
At the Certificate level, you will
complete two double modules:
Management of
Resources & Operations:
In the modern business environment,
all managers should be able to communicate
effectively with the specialist
across functional barriers within their organisations.
This double module aims to enable
students to be conversant with the
language and work of those that are
involved in managing the resources
that are available to the organisation,
such as finance managers, accountants
and human resource managers.
It is also meant to enable the students
to understand and appreciate the logical
path through the activities of operations
management and to provide an under-standing
of its strategic context and its
importance to effective management
of resources.
External Environment
& Market Process:
This module is designed to provide
a framework within which students can
understand and assess how the external
environment, cultural and ethical issues
impact on organisations.
It is also meant to enable students
to understand and synthesise the
integrative nature of seemingly
different functional areas of marketing
and business environment. It will provide
an integrative foundation for students
to examine critical concepts such as
competitors, customers, choice, the
nature of the external environment
and techniques for analysing them.
The modules will also explore the trends
in international trade and investment
activity and the analysis of the business
environment that influence an organi-sation’s
ability to successfully participate
in the market process.
